NAS PENSACOLA, Fla. – The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, and the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, will honor frontline COVID-19 responders and essential workers with formation flights over New York City, Newark, Trenton and Philadelphia April 28.
“We are truly excited to take to the skies with our Navy counterparts for a nation-wide tribute to the men and women keeping our communities safe,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. John Caldwell, Thunderbird 1 and mission commander for the flyover. “We hope to give Americans a touching display of American resolve that honors those serving on the frontline of our fight with COVID-19.”

A formation of 6 F-16C/D Fighting Falcon and 6 F/A-18C/D Hornet aircraft will conduct these flyovers as a collaborative salute to healthcare workers, first responders, military, and other essential personnel while standing in solidarity with all Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are incredibly honored to have the opportunity to salute those working on the frontline of the COVID-19 response, we are in awe of your strength and resilience,” said Cmdr. Brian Kesselring, U.S. Navy Blue Angels commanding officer and flight leader. “Thank you to all of those in essential industries keeping our nation moving forward. We will get through this. We are all in this together.”
This mission, the first of several planned over the coming weeks, is the culmination of more than a month of planning and coordination between the two teams and numerous city and government offices.
Residents along the flight path can expect a few seconds of jet noise as the aircraft pass overhead, along with the sight of 12 high-performance aircraft flying close in precise formation.
Flyovers in Newark, New York City and surrounding boroughs will start at noon (EDT) and last approximately 35 minutes.
Flyovers in Trenton will start at 1:45 p.m. (EDT) and last approximately 10 minutes.

SCAM ALERT

Scams: Another Side Effect of Coronavirus

PSE&G warns customers of scammers taking advantage during times of crisis.

(NEWARK, N.J. – April 8, 2020) — Public Service Electric & Gas,
New Jersey’s largest utility, is more committed than ever to the health and safety of its customers. A heightened sense of uncertainty throughout the world is emboldening phone scammers who impersonate utility employees and PSE&G urges customers to know the facts and protect themselves.

“In times like these, every challenge our households face is
magnified,” said Fred Daum, executive director, PSE&G Customer Operations. “The heightened anxiety we’re feeling is perfect for scammers, whose preferred tactic is to make people panic at the thought of getting their power shut off. That’s why it’s important for people to know that, during this crisis, PSE&G is not shutting off power for non-payment due to financial burdens.”

Phone scammers typically tell their potential victims that they must pay an overdue bill or face immediate shut off of electricity. PSE&G is reminding its customers that, in the interest of protecting public health, shut-offs of electric service for non-payment have been temporarily suspended.

As another reminder, PSE&G does not accept payment via prepaid gift cards, wire transfers or cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.

What to look out for

* You receive a call from what looks like PSE&G on your caller ID.
* The caller threatens to shut off your service and demands an immediate payment by cash, pre-paid card, wire transfer or Bitcoin.
* The caller informs you that you require a new meter and demands a deposit before the installation can occur (PSE&G does not require a deposit for a new meter installation).
* You're given a phone number to call back that, when called, may sound similar to PSE&G’s automated call system.
* The caller alerts you that, because of your good bill-paying history, you’re eligible for a bill reduction or discount but you must provide information first.

What PSE&G will and won’t discuss over the phone

* A genuine PSE&G representative will ask to speak to the account owner.
* If that person is available, the representative will explain why they are calling and provide the account name, address and current balance.
* If the account owner is not available, the PSE&G representative will not discuss the account at all and ask that a message be left for the Customer of Record to call 1-800-436-PSEG (7734).

Message from PSEG

Dear Elected Official and Professional Staff:

During the current COVID-19 health crisis, customers who may never have been behind on their bill may be looking for financial assistance. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is still taking applications. Like most of America, LIHEAP agencies are not taking walk-in traffic, but customers can still submit a LIHEAP application online or by fax. Sending an application by mail is also an option.
To receive LIHEAP assistance, customers should meet income eligibility requirements and submit a completed application. Applications can be downloaded through the PSE&G website at pseg.com/help or pseg.com/ayuda(Spanish). (Note: customers do not have to be behind on their bill to receive LIHEAP, and customers who have already received LIHEAP this season may also be eligible for additional assistance through LIHEAP.)
For more information about the LIHEAP program, or other energy assistance programs, call 1-800-510-3102 or ‘211’ seven days a week.

We strongly encourage you to please share this important information in any manner (township website, Facebook page, township newsletter, council meeting, municipal TV, etc) that will help advance this communication.

Thank you,

PSE&G Regional Public Affairs Team

COVID-19 FACTSHEET

Homestead Rebate Update

The Township has received the following information from the State:

In light of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the State has placed funding for Homestead Credits in reserve to meet  emergency and statutorily required obligations. As a result, eligible property owners will not see a credit to their taxes at this time.  While this State action is highly regrettable, it is deemed necessary due to the highly fluid and unanticipated fiscal impact of the COVID-19 event on Statewide revenues. Reissuance of the Homestead Benefit Credit will be revisited if conditions warrant it.
