The
Township Committee is pleased to announce that the move to automation of the
solid waste collection will begin the week of December 9, 2019. During that week, 96-gallon carts will be
delivered to each residence and are to be utilized beginning with the December
17, 2019 collection week. Residents will
be required to place all solid waste within the cart for collection and will be
permitted to put one bulk item out next to the cart for collection each
week. All current regulations
prohibiting the placement of recyclable, construction and hazardous materials,
as well as yard debris, in the solid waste collection will continue.
If
residents are in need of a second cart, they can be purchased through the
Township. Details will follow in a separate
announcement on how to request a second cart, what the cost will be, etc. If any resident chooses to use their own cart
as a second container, neither the Township nor the hauler will be responsible
for any damage to that cart, as it will not meet the industry standard for
automated collection services and will likely be damaged. If you are using multiple carts at your
residence, please take the time to view this video from Waste Management regarding
proper container placement:
If
residents would like to throw away any old can(s), please put a note/sign on
the can(s) stating “Throw Out/Please Take.”
Neither the Township nor the hauler will be responsible for any lost or
damaged containers at the curb that are not the designated carts.
We
would also like to take this opportunity to provide all residents with the following
reminders:
