Babe Ruth Day in Delano

The Township of Delanco is excited to announce that they are resurrecting Babe Ruth Day, celebrating the day in 1924 when the great Babe Ruth came to Delanco to play an exhibition game. Newspaper accounts say 5,000 people attended... The biggest event in Delanco history.  The Delanco Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) is partnering with Delanco Recreation Commission and our local historical societies to put together a free event.  They have engaged two vintage base ball clubs, the Elizabeth Resolutes and the Flemington Neshanocks to play a double header at historic Babe Ruth Field according to 19th Century base ball rules. The day will run from 10 am to 4 pm with the first match at 11 am and the second at 1 pm. Because of the period, Delano is also setting a Civil War era ambiance, with help from the 23rd NJ Regiment of living history reenactors, period music, historic displays.  Let's play ball!
